Learning English at university!

Hi! I’m surprised because it is the one of the last blog in the year. It means the semester is finishing, and we must to do a lot of things before :( but holidays are near!
About English course: I can comment that it was a good experience. Two years ago I practiced a lot of English. A Japanese friend came to Chile and I spent a lot of time with him. Firstly, he didn’t know Spanish and he knew just Japanese and English language so I had to speak in English. But, after that, I didn’t practice, so I forgot a lot of things about this language. Now, this semester, I remembered all of these things, so I`m happy. I also have to say that I learnt new tools and my English improved a lot.

I hoped learning English at university was different, I hoped a teacher in a classroom speaking and speaking. In the first class I was surprised because we stayed at the computer room and later we spoke a lot. I improved a lot my writing skills because of the blogs. In my opinion it was a good way for practice writing skills, because every Wednesday I wrote on this blog so I corrected my mistakes.

Now I’m not practicing English very much, I speak just on Wednesday but I will start to do it because the exam is near and we have to speak a lot in it. I also want to go to England someday so I will need English so I know I must not stop of speak.

Ok this is the end, best wishes to you. Bye!

About environment

Hi! About take care of environment I must say that I think this is a very important topic and we need to worry about it.
Sincerely I don't know very much about this topic, so I’m not sure about where we can learn about this. Maybe here in our university there are some places where people takes care about the environment and animals, but outside I don’t know any place.

Recently I have changed my habits, I think sometimes we forget that if we want to drink water, we need clean water or if we want to go running, we need clean air to breathe so now I think more about it. About my behavior in this topic I can say that I often throw away the bin in a trash can, but I need to learn more about daily things like how much water I spend on day. This is a topic that I must improve. Now, about my ways of transport I usually walk, I don’t have a bike so I can’t ride any bike. For came to university I take the bus because is very far to walk, but when I lived in Arica I sometimes walked to the school.

Today I don’t participate in any eco-organization because I´m not informed and I don’t have enough time to have a serious participation in anyone. But I would like to give information in places where there isn’t it. I remember two years ago in my school, an eco-organization took us to paint and clean touristic zones of Arica. This is one of the few things that I have done to reduce the carbon footprint.

About our society I think all people are worried in their own problems so a big part of all people don’t care the environment. Now, in some schools teachers are teaching more about the environment and I think it is very important because at least few children will learn and take consciousness.

Summer Holidays

Hi! I can't wait to summer holidays, I really want to return to Arica a share with my family and friends, go to the beach, play football and things like that. But before holidays begin, I need finish all my career’s courses. We are in the middle of semester and I want to approve quickly and leave Santiago.

After that I hope going to the south of Chile, I would like to go to Quepe - a rural town near Temuco – because a big part of my family often go to Quepe on holidays. It’s a long time since I saw their so I’m anxious. In Quepe I can be relaxed and sleep a lot because it is a rural town so it is a quiet and peaceful place with a nice environment.

Later I hope return to Arica before Christmas and spend a lot of time with my family; especially with my little brother. I would like to go with him to see football matches and do sports. On summer I usually go to the beach during the afternoon. We go to the beach during the night too. Me and my friends enjoy going to parties in the beach and we also wake up early to go swimming in the sea.

I hope approve all courses and return to Arica, I miss my family, friends and my city.

My dream job

I don't know what job could be my dream job, I would like work in a lot of places and do a lot of things. Since I was a child I like football so I would have liked been a footballer.  I also would have wished been a cooker in a cruise ship, I like cooking and I like the sea too, so it would be a good job. I also would like been a cameraman and go to the most important sport events like Olympics Games, FIFA World Cup or Super Bowl.

I like these kinds of job because I love traveling and work outdoors, but I don’t have problems with work in an office.

Now I’m studying sociology, I don’t know if it could be the major of my dreams, but I know I really like it so I´m quiet. Last year I didn’t know what major take because I didn’t want to study, I was sure of been a footballer, but two injuries in my knee stopped my wish. After that I started read and study more and I discovered that I was interested in social sciences. I like discuss about society and about what is happening in the country/in my city so I decided to study sociology and I hope being a very good sociologist.

Mi favorite city: Arica

Hi! My favorite city in Chile is Arica. I think it is special to me because I was born in this city and I really love it. I lived in Arica since I was born and I left the city this year to study here.
When I was a kid, in kindergarten, I learnt Arica’s anthem. I think it is a distinctive feature of Arica, because it not many cities someone teach you the local anthem or the history of your own city when you are a kid.

A lot of people in Arica love the city, there is an especial ambient. In my opinion it is produced by the geographic location and the abandon of Chilean government.
If you want to go from Arica to Iquique -the nearest Chilean city- by bus, you have to do a travel that takes 5 hours. Tacna, a Peruvian city, is nearer than Iquique; it takes just one hour from Arica to Tacna by bus.

Arica is famous because of drugs or bordering problems with Peru. But the city has many good things. In the middle of year you can see the Surfing and Body-boarding World Tournament. In Arica you can find the Chinchorro’s mummies – the oldest mummies in the world- . There is a very good weather, this is the reason because of the city is called The Eternal Spring City, during winter the coldest weather is about 15°C and in summer the hottest weather is about 25°C and you can enjoy the beach and carnival.

About one of my favorites movies: Luna de Avellaneda

I really like Argentinian movies; I have spent a lot of time watching these movies.

My favorite Argentinian movies are El secreto de sus ojos and Luna de Avellaneda.  If I must choose one of them now, I would choose the latter. So, I will write about it.

I like this movie because it is about a man who has participated during his entire life in a social and sports club -in a vulnerable neighborhood from Avellaneda, where children go to spend the time and do fun activities- . Later, the man and his partners had a complicated situation that pushed them to sell the club, because of economics problems. I feel identified with the protagonist, because I support my favorite football team since my childhood, so If my team disappeared I would feel as terrible as him. I have traveled and spent money to support it, so I think I understand the situation.

The first time that I saw that movie was in the end of last year. I was watching movies to feel relaxed before PSU test and I really liked it, so, when I´m bored, I often watch this movie.

I recommend this movie to everyone who wants to watch a good movie from Latin America. I think this is a very interesting one.

A country I’d like to visit

I would like to visit Brazil. Choose that country was really difficult, because I thought in a lot of places like Mexico, England, South Africa and Brazil. Finally I chose the last one because when I was a child I had a teacher that told me many things about it and I really want to see Rio de Janeiro’s Carnival and enjoy its beaches.

About Brazil, I don’t know many things. I have seen the carnival, the football matches, and how Brazilian people dance samba on TV.

The first thing I would do (before the travel to Brazil) is learn Portuguese language. Later, In Brazil I would like to fly by plane over Brasilia, and watch the city from the air, because I heard that it has the shape of a bird. I also would like to go to a Gremio’s football match and see the behavior of Brazilian’s football fans.

And the last thing I would like to do, is visit Rio de Janeiro’s Carnival, watch the dances and enjoy the event in every possible way.

Finally, I would like to stay in Brazil one year or two. If I could study in that country I would travel, but I wouldn’t like to work in Brazil because I want to come back to my city and work there.
